The GE Work-Out methodology is designed to achieve significant process improvements quickly using empowered cross-functional teams. Similar to kaizen events in structure and expediency, a well facilitated Work-Out event will simplify and streamline processes by identifying, prioritizing, and eliminating non-value-adding activities that are barriers to operational efficiency. Measurable results are mandatory.
Through senior management sponsorship and a well-defined project scope, process experts use Work-Out to gain a deeper understanding into process challenges, inefficiencies and potential business opportunities. Through the power of teamwork the best possible options for realizing success are determined...even those contrary to traditional thinking. These options are presented to, discussed and debated with the project sponsor who has authority over processes within the project's scope. The sponsor is committed to providing an immediate "GO" or "NO GO" response to each of the team's suggestions.
The Work-Out event is completed in 1 to 5 days and implementation activities related to the approved suggestions are targeted to be completed in 30 to 90 days.
